Five companies were fined a total of $4,500 for illegal dumping in six locations across Sengkurong. Three companies received the maximum fine of $2,000 each, one was fined $1,000, and another $500. The fines were issued by the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei-Muara District Office under Chapter 12(1) of the Litter Act (Amendment 2021).  Failure to pay the fines could result in court action with potential penalties of up to $3,000 for individuals and $30,000 for companies.
