A restaurant in the Belait District was slapped with a compound fine of BND1,000 by the Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board on May 28 after it discovered used oil dripping from the restaurant into a nearby public drainage.
The restaurant was given seven days to settle the fine. The failure to do so will see the eatery being brought to court. If found guilty, the restaurant may face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000.
For the second or subsequent offence, a fine between BND10,000 and BND30,000 fine, imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both, will be imposed. – Daniel Lim
