As dining out and takeaways surge in popularity in Brunei, the Health Promotion Centre (HPC) has updated its Healthy Dining Programme guidelines to address concerns about unhealthy eating habits. HPC Head Dr Siti Rosemawati highlighted that restaurant meals often contain excess calories, sugar, fat, and salt, increasing risks of obesity and hypertension. However, she stressed that mindful choices and balanced diets can mitigate these risks. The revised HDP guidelines, recently piloted in several establishments, aim to make it easier for consumers to identify healthier options when dining out. Fifty local food and beverage companies attended a session on the updated guidelines.
