Be prepared, agile to face changing world, says deputy minister

One must be prepared and agile in adapting by continuously learning and growing through knowledge as well as mastering technological skills as the world rapidly changes driven by technology, automation and global trends, said Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan. He said this as the guest of honour and a member of the Manpower Planning and Employment Council during the launching ceremony of ‘Jelajah Kerjaya 2024’ in the Brunei-Muara District, at Munawwarah Hall, Setia Point building yesterday.

He added that the event provides job opportunities for the vulnerable groups, offering pathways for individuals who may face challenges in finding employment. Commitment to inclusivity not only strengthens the workforce, but also ensures no one is left out of employment opportunities, he added.

He also said that the event serves as a platform for everyone to deepen their understanding and explore new fields, as well as to share knowledge with industry experts.

Meanwhile, Director of Job Centre Brunei (PPB) at the Prime Minister’s Office Hajah Noraini binti Haji Mohd Jamudin spoke of the many employment opportunities available for locals at the event.

This year’s Jelajah Kerjaya, open to the public until Sunday from 9am to 5pm, is participated by nine government agencies and 60 companies from various sectors, offering more than 1,500 job opportunities to locals including 109 positions specifically for persons with different abilities.

Hajah Noraini also shared that in strengthening the government’s efforts to reduce the unemployment rate in the country, PPB is taking proactive, inclusive and dynamic measures to engage local job seekers by bringing job opportunities closer to their home through a ‘tour’ across all four districts.

She added that 2,137 people visited the Jelajah Kerjaya in the Belait District, Tutong District and Temburong District – with 202 participating in the walk-in interview sessions.

The ceremony ended with the guest of honour touring the exhibitions. – James Kon
