Crafted with modern drivers in mind, those with trendy lifestyles seeking functionality and affordable luxury, Premier Motor Co Sdn Bhd (PMC) recently introduced two variants of the GT. The MG GT boasts an impressive 1.5L turbocharged engine, while the other is equipped with a highly efficient 1.5L engine paired with the MEGA Tech CVT intelligent variable transmission. Although the term ‘GT’ typically conjures images of high-speed, long-distance cars, the compact MG GT defies expectations with its sedan classification. High-quality PU leather seats ensure both comfort and easy maintenance. As we take a peek inside the MG GT, the stylish interior presents a dynamic and attractive design; the centre console, inspired by fighter jets, features a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen that tilts toward the driver. A 12.3-inch virtual cluster, along with a seven-inch LCD screen in front of the driver, provides essential information. The thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel seen in other MG models completes the cockpit. The spacious interior caters to urban and young lifestyles, with ample headroom and visibility. The low cowl and thin A-pillars enhance forward visibility, allowing drivers to electronically adjust their seats for a sportier driving position. The red and black interior combines compact sedan comfort with a fighter jet aesthetic, featuring soft padded materials and a piano-themed inspired dashboard. Bucket seats provide optimum comfort and support for long journeys. Adding to the sporty quality are the fighter jet-style glossy gear knob and aviation-grade aluminium accents, while the wide sunroof floods the cabin with natural light. Additional features include an air dust purification system, intelligent keyless entry, a push-start button, and more.Turning our attention back to the exterior of the all-new MG GT, the narrow LED headlights flanking the digital flame grille provide exceptional illumination day and night. The car’s wide stance and fastback silhouette, along with its aerodynamic and flowing body lines, create a visually stunning vehicle. At the rear, 3D LED race track tail lamps add to the car’s aggressive and stylish overall appearance. The MG GT offers a palette of bold youthful paint options to choose from. **ENGINE** Under the hood of the impressive 1.5L turbocharged model lies a seven-speed three-chamber wet dual-clutch gearbox, delivering 173 PS maximum horsepower and 275 Nm maximum torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres (km) per hour in just eight seconds. The second variant features a highly efficient 1.5L engine paired with the MEGA Tech CVT intelligent variable transmission, a fourth-generation iteration of the engine developed by SAIC Motor. This combination delivers exceptional fuel economy, with only 5.7L per 100km. **SAFETY** Safety features in the all-new MG GT are abundant, including the XDS Curve Dynamic Control System, SCS Body Electronic Stability Control System, Electronic Stability Program, Park Distance Control Reversing Radar, and more. The MG GT also comes equipped with MG Pilot, featuring an Intelligent Driving Assistance System, 360-degree View Monitoring System, Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Active Cornering Brake Control, Hill Hold Control, Autonomous Emergency Brake, and other safety assists to enhance driver confidence and control on the road. To further enhance safety, the GT is equipped with six airbags, ensuring maximum protection for both the driver and passengers in the event of a collision.
