Adib Noor, Daniel Lim, Lyna Mohamad & Izah Azahari The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Outreach and Ihya Ramadhan programmes conducted throughout Ramadhan concluded yesterday with a Khatam Al-Quran and iftar event at all RBAF suraus including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque, with the focal event held at Surau Ad-Difa’ Bolkiah Garrison. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the acting permanent secretary at the MinDef, officers and personnel of the MinDef and RBAF attended the event at Surau Ad-Difa’. Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi in his capacity as Chairman of the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s (BKISHHB) Advisory Board also attended a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony held by BKISHHB on Wednesday. The ceremony at the BKISHHB auditorium began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the mass recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuha until Surah An-Nas. Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi also presented donations to three BKISHHB members before a communal iftar ceremony. Meanwhile, several Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies were also held in Belait District. Belait District Religious Affairs Office organised an event at the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait attended by Head of Religious Officer in the Belait District Religious Affairs Office Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail. Imam of the mosque Muhammad Hilmi bin Yakop also delivered a talk. Meanwhile, at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, Penghulu of Mukim Kuala Belait Haji Abdul Afiq bin Zainuddin was present as the guest of honour. Haji Roslan bin Adnan led the recitation of Doa Khatam, while Dikir Marhaban was conducted and led by the members of the mosque’s Dikir group before the ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by the mosque’s imam Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminuddin. The Kampong Mumong Village Consultative Council (MPK) also organised a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the residence of Kampong Mumong Acting Village Head Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Dulamin. Meanwhile, Ambassador of Iran to Brunei Darussalam Homeira Rigi Zirouki and her spouse along with embassy staff, participated in an iftar banquet held by the international students of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on Wednesday. The ceremony organised by Iranian PhD student Mohammad Azim Arbabi along with international students of UBD and ISC was held at The Core of the university’s campus. InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) members also hosted an iftar ceremony for 25 children from the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) and Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam. IFB Chairperson Pengiran Sarimah binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Latif was present along with IFB Vice Chairman Haji Mohammad Radziman bin Haji Abdul Rahman and other IFB members. The event saw donations presented to 10 YASKA and 15 Pusat Ehsan children. “We would like convey appreciation to IFB members for your generous contributions, it is an honour to organise this event, to give back to the community in the holy month of Ramadhan,” said Pengiran Sarimah. She added that IFB’s hopes to provide a memorable experience for the children of YASKA and Pusat Ehsan as a contribution to their well-being in a meaningful way. The event was part of the IFB’s charity project and responsible business initiative aimed at bringing communities together to share blessings of the holy month of Ramadhan.
