a lot. most of them are uni graduates majoring in computer science or software engineering. As a cs graduate, i recommend w3school or geeksforgeeks or youtube to start learning web dev.

As a self taught web developer and now a full stack developer, currently working as a developer. yes it’s possible! Remember, no developer remembers all codes. 😬

Yes, it's possible. The hard part is getting employers to look at your CV when you don't have related formal education. So you would want to build a portfolio of projects to show your skill.
I recommend free code camp or The Odin project, both are free structured courses.
My advice would be to try and fully understand the foundation of the technology. By having a strong understanding of how everything works, you will be more capable to solve new problems.

As long you have proper discipline and time management, memang boleh. Our mistakes dedulu, we use tutorial tapi not trying to understand the concept nya

I do build website but only for family use, like recently I built one for our family's event planning/managements.
I have no IT backgrounds, my highest education is only ND in electronic engineering and all of my job experience are all related to electrical/electronic only.
I learnt all these web programming skills by myself as a hobby since I was 16.
My point is, yes it is possible to learn it from self-teaching but for me it takes time. The most effective way for me to learn is from downloading some free source code, localhost it and then I usually explore and modify it from there.

I would say a lot of the developers in Brunei are a mixed of self taught and uni grads.
My advice is to avoid tutorial hell and actually build something doesn't matter if it is something simple. Pick a language, golang is very popular nowadays and it's fast in terms of developing and performance, typescript/javascript is in demand right now and is used everywhere in the industry and php is still in used too (getting better with every updates).
oh and also frameworks is great but don't just be a "frameworker", all the best.

There's a lot but there's also a lot that thinks they're web developer and called themselves full-stack developers. I've met a few that don't even understand basic html and always rely on php and its extensions. To me, php is dead and shouldn't be used in a workplace. There are other better alternatives. Just because you used it in school, doesn't mean its the only option.

there’s been so many good answers already, and solid pointers as well. However I must warn you, you should also get your hands on a task, at least complete a few backend projects that way you gain experience and get full knowledge of the field. I’d say learn Java, but NodeJS seems to be in regular demand these days.

All the best for those who wanna learn on IT stuff

I'm a self taught web developer, I started learning web development from youtube > Codecademy > Team Treehouse > Udemy.
What's more important is to practice what you've learned and also, don't learn every programming languages, as for me I stick to Javascript, PHP and Python.
I do freelance work, just simple static sites and web applications, I do plan on mobile development in future.
Currently I'm a Technical Manager working in Brunei (Private Solutions provider company) and I don't have like most which is a diploma or degree, etc. Only had my highschool o level cert.
How did I end up at my current job? I do freelance IT support then from there get hired as IT Specialist and Network Administrator, then from there to Technical Manager so basically I have a lot of experience.
To summarise, learn at your own pace if you do plan on being a self taught web developer, practice what you've learned and do freelance work even if its just a simple static site.

I found the information below and here's a summary
Did you know that many web developers in Brunei are self-taught or university graduates? It's like a coding playground where learning happens through various platforms like YouTube and Free Code Camp! Plus, there's a mix of opinions on programming languages, with some declaring PHP 'dead'! Who knew web development could be so spicy? 🌶️💻
