Between January to April of 2024, some 390,481 visitors from Brunei Darussalam visited Malaysia, placing the Sultanate within the top five tourist-generating markets for the neighbouring nation. Singapore topped the list with 2,599,076 visitors, followed by Indonesia (1,150,939), China (955,696), Thailand (543,768) and Brunei, according to Tourism Malaysia.
Malaysia logged 7.56 million arrivals over the period, an increase of 27.5 per cent compared to 5.9 million recorded in the same period of 2023, Tourism Malaysia said.
In 2023, Malaysia recorded 811,833 Brunei tourist arrivals, reflecting strong pent-up demand compared to 2022. – Azlan Othman
