Sorry but that's a stupid logic. From Malaysia's perspective, just because Brunei petrol is cheaper doesn't mean Malaysia doesn't lose out on subsidies when Brunei cars fuel up.
For every car regardless of where it is from, Malaysia gahmen loses out when it pumps subsidied fuel. So, from Malaysian taxpayers perspective, why do they want to help pay for a Bruneian?
Just ask petrol stations to sell unsubsidised fuel, isn't that much simpler? If they don't want to sell, find out the reason why, and give them some incentives (like tax breaks) to encourage them to sell.

The mayor understands the power of brunei dollar ! Smart move . We don’t need their subsidized fuel. We just need their services . Our fuel is even cheaper here.

It is good for Travellers. Look forward to that. Miri Mayor really smart move. Sucking up the oil with extending pipe down and all digging from the same oil basin region. Sell back to Brunei for purchasing power and also creates more job for Malaysian. Are they smart or we are just too clever and not buy Brunei ? Opens to further discussions and comments.

Yes then hopefully Brunei also let them fuel up, that way can help to ease the costs for visitors wanting to visit Brunei from Malaysia.

It doesn't make any sense to outright refuse to sell us fuel. Our petrol is cheaper than theirs, means no Bruneian buy their fuel willingly. Other than long distance travel, Kuching, K.K. etc. People forget sometimes or on Fridays when our Shell closes for 2 hours. There's barely any impact to their subsidy. Their own citizen abused our subsidies before we clamped down on it years ago. They can still buy our fuel @ $5 per Malaysian car.
