90 minutes wasn’t enough to even get INTO Omar Barghouti's "BDS" — we only covered until Chapter 2 — but it was emotional, hopeful and refreshing to be in a space where we could express our thoughts and exchange ideas about what more we can do, and what is needed in order to do.
We opened with a reading of Alice Walker's poem, "Fullness of Heart (For Bab Al Shams/Gate of the Sun in Palestine", and closed with "If I Must Die" by Refaat Alareer, the Palestinian writer and poet who was recently killed by a surgical Israeli airstrike. A reminder of who we were there for and why the work must continue.
Thank you @diverselitcircle for organising the event and @ris.social for providing such a lovely space, and thanks to everyone who came!
