James Kon Government schools that achieved excellence in the public examinations were awarded with school incentives during the closing ceremony of the 5th School Leaders Convention at the Bridex Hall, Jerudong yesterday. Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented the school incentives. Some 18 primary schools were awarded according to their achievements in four categories for Primary School Assessment (PSR) and Whole School Evaluation (WSE) 2022. Meanwhile, there were three award categories for 15 secondary schools for achievements in the Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level examination and WSE 2022. Four sixth form centres were awarded according to three achievement categories for Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level examination and WSE 2022. The first category was schools that achieved national targets and above. Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar (B) Secondary School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS), Raja Isteri Girls High School, Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School and Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School achieved 60 per cent and above of five O-levels or more in the Brunei Cambridge GCE/IGCSE examinations in 2022 and received incentive grants of BND3,000. For the sixth form centres that achieved 80 per cent and above obtaining three A-levels or more in the Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level Examination 2022 and received an incentive grant of BND3,000 was MSPSBS. The second category was schools that achieved a percentage increase in their results for three consecutive years. For the primary schools with a total of 11 to 30 candidates, the schools were Haji Tarif Primary School and Penanjong Primary School with both schools receiving an incentive grant of BND1,500. The secondary schools that achieved five ‘O’ Levels or more in the Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level/IGCSE examination were Berakas Secondary School, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Mentiri Secondary School and Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar (B) Secondary School, receiving incentive grants of BND2,000. The third category was the Best School Achievement in the WSE and the recipients for primary schools were Sengkurong Primary School, Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi Primary School, Sungai Teraban Primary School, Danau Primary School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Besar Sungai Kebun Primary School, Muhammad Alam Primary School, Lubok Pulau Primary School, Kapok Primary School and Mulaut Primary School, each receiving a plaque and an incentive grant of BND1,000. For the secondary school’s category, the Silver Award and an incentive grant of BND1,500 were awarded to Perdana Wazir Secondary School. The Bronze Award and an incentive grant of BND1,000 were awarded to Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School, Anthony Abell College, Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School, Rimba Secondary School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School and Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School. Meanwhile, for sixth form centres, the recipients were Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, Tutong Sixth Form Centre and Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College with each school receiving a plaque and an incentive of BND1,000.
