Brunei's Ministry of Health is emphasizing the importance of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to eleven, particularly those with underlying health conditions. Paediatric Cardiologist Consultant Dr. Hajah Rohayati highlighted that children with disabilities are at higher risk of severe complications from COVID-19 infection. The Pfizer vaccine will be administered in a lower dose (10 micrograms) compared to adults (30 micrograms) due to children's robust immune systems. Priority will be given to children with comorbidities such as immune problems, allergies, obesity, and chronic heart diseases. The Ministry assures parents that side effects are generally mild and data from real-life trials is encouraging.
