Lyna Mohammad & Izah Azahari Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is an important field in producing skilled human resources, hence Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) continuously works towards producing high-skilled and competitive students in the ever-challenging working world. [Graduates feted at IBTE Convocation](https://www.youtube.com/embed/qFnbLTLKw7c?feature=oembed) This was said by IBTE Chief Executive Officer and Director of Technical Education Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli in his welcoming remarks at the institutions 30th Convocation Ceremony yesterday. Some 1,981 graduates of the IBTE received their certificates from Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas. Dr Haji Mohd Zamri added, “At the same time, IBTE works with stakeholders in the industry to ensure its programmes are relevant and meet the current job market and industry needs. “To ensure solid ties between the institute and stakeholders, several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) have been inked between IBTE and industry authorities here and abroad. IBTE has advanced further with the establishment of the IBTE Centre of Technology Enhancement Learning (CTEL), in alignment with the development of technology where the centre provides guidance, resources and support to the existing learning environment. Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw also attended in his capacity as the Chairman of the IBTE Board of Governors. Fifty-five graduates received their TVET Teachers’ Training Certificates from TVET Academy; two received their Level 5 Diploma; 1,032 received their Higher National Technical Education (HNTec) Certificate; 695 their National Technical Education (NTec) Certificate; and 197 graduates the Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) Certificate. The ceremony also saw awards for excellent students as well as the Chinese Ambassador Award, given to top students in the Diploma in Refinery Operator and Diploma in Control and Automation Engineering programmes. Meanwhile, the afternoon session saw 692 graduates receive their NTec at the ICC and the presentation of the Best Student and Student Special awards from Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo. The afternoon session’s Student Special award went to Nur Aziyah binti Haji Abdul Aziz in NTec Building Craft at the School of Building Technology Services and Muhammad Adam Aiman bin Haji Mohammad Firman in NTec in Industrial Machining and Maintenance at the School of Energy and Engineering. Meanwhile, the Best Student awards went to Dayangku Siti Nur Wardina binti Pengiran Rooslan in NTec in Crop and Livestock Production, Dayangku Amiratul Wajihah binti Pengiran Zainin in NTec in Business and Administration, Nur Sya’efatul Nuwairah binti Haji Gahni in NTec in Building Craft, Nur Mazlena binti Matzidi in NTec in Information Technology, Arie Eleazar Linggi Teo in NTec in Industrial Machining and Maintenance, and Erni Suriani @ Amira Nabilah binti Azlan in NTec in Rooms Division Operations. Also present was Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong as well as members of the IBTE board of governors.
