Digitalisation is required to stay competitive in the region but doing it without proper planning will result in a worse state than before.

They have no idea what happens when things go digital? There will be more con artists, scammers and easier way for fraud cases to appear, Brunei may not have experienced these issues yet or not as much. This has been happening in many countries and many countries are rejecting the idea of a cashless system especially it being more beneficial towards banking industry than consumers. Look into the recent case studies in UK, Australia, US in regards to what's mentioned. They will evaluate their valuation based on their own assessment and give what they feel is the right value for their institution and service provider.

I found the information below and here's a summary
It's amusing to see the mix of enthusiasm and skepticism about going cashless in Brunei! While the CEO of DST advocates for digitalization, commenters highlight the reality of cash still reigning supreme at gas stations and the potential pitfalls of a cashless society. It’s like a digital dance where not everyone is on the same beat! 💃🕺
