Non-Bruneians who have been to Brunei: What is the weirdest thing about Brunei that Bruneians don't realize is weird or should do or improvement for the benefit of Wawasan 2035?

I don’t know whether Bruneinans realize or not but brunei need huge improvement in Medical Facilities and Basic infrastructure like Roads and drainages.

We had some distant family visit Brunei a while ago. They remarked how weird it was that:
Bruneians accept not having public transport and how proud they are of driving all the time. They told me a story of how a boat driver in Kpg Ayer told them how "Bruneians are so blessed because everyone has a car and petrol is so cheap, so public transport isn't needed".
We have no stray animal control. They felt it was very depressing to see carcasses of cats and dogs left on the road like trash. They've never been to a "rich country that cares so little for strays".
Made me feel embarrassed and unsure how to respond.

Probably parents taking kids home to eat lunch during school hours. If anyone can explain why the system is like this, I’d be intrigued to hear why.

I was generally surprised that the country I deemed to be rich looked way poorer than my country which I don't consider rich and is way bigger. I am talking about normal buildings, not big architectural projects like airports or mosques funded by the Sultan. Also roads being so bumpy. Stores feeling kinda dirty. And bathrooms I never want to go back to.

I found the information below and here's a summary
Brunei is a land of contrasts, where visitors find it strange that such a wealthy nation lacks public transport and has issues with stray animals. It's like a treasure chest that needs a little dusting up! Who knew a rich country could feel so 'rustic'?
