Mosques, suraus and religious halls across the Sultanate are enlivened with *dikir* and *selawat* for 12 days commencing yesterday, the 1st of Rabiulawal 1446 Hijrah, to mark *Maulidur Rasul*, the birth date of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Ministry of Religious Affairs held the ceremony at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman. The event at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque included a religious talk on the benefits of reciting selawat by Muhamad Abdul Haziq bin Haji Hanafi from the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI). Also in attendance at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque was Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan. The event began with mass* Maghrib* prayer followed by the recitation of *Surah Al-Fatihah,* *Dikir Assalamualaika* and *Dikir Syarafil Anam*. The event also saw a hand over of waqaf by Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi to a representative of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. Some 250 people attended the ceremony including Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar; Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu; Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the PMO Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos; Deputy Minister (Energy) at the PMO Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, judicial commissioners as well as Syariah High Court Judge; heads of departments and divisions; and officers and staff of the PMO. The PMO also held the opening ceremony of *Dikir Maulud* at Ash-Shaliheen Mosque attended by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the PMO Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra. Also present were head of departments and divisions, officers and staff of the PMO. Another ceremony was held at the Istana Nurul Iman surau, attended by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah. The ceremony also witnessed a talk on ‘Embracing *Sunnah* of the Prophet’ by Ahmad Muzhafar bin Marsidi from PDI.
