***Prime Minister’s Office*** Rokiah Mahmud The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and its departments commemorated the Islamic new year of 1444 Hijrah with religious programmes, at its Banquet Hall yesterday. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour. The recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Imam of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, followed by the reading of Al-Quran verses with Murattal and its translation by Haji Mohammad Khairul Zaman bin Haji Salleh, a Braille student from Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. A religious talk on ‘Sabar dan Tawakkal Pemangkin Ummah Bertaqwa’ was delivered by Director of International and Public Relations Centre at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili. The talk described the success of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on his journey to strengthen eminence of the Islamic faith despite facing several challenges, and the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah to Madinah. The ceremony was enlivened with the mass recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah by officers and staff from the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Themed ‘Bersabar, Berikhtiar, Bertawakkal dan Berdoa Menghadapi Ujian: Memacu Wawasan Negara’, the event’s highlight was a religious talk on Hijrah and its challenges by Deputy Director of Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk. Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin attended as the guest of honour.
