Lyna Mohamad Several exhibits are currently on display at the Pro-Chancellor Arts Centre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), as part of the UBD Convocation Festival 2022. His Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Pro-Chancellor of UBD launched the exhibition that showcases sustainability works by its alumni and students. Among the exhibits is a project on ‘Development of Building Models with Vertical Greenery Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings’. The study focussed on reducing temperature through a vertical greenery system, with an aim of developing guidelines for its future adoption in the Sultanate. Project findings show that establishing baseline conditions is essential to identifying environmental changes and monitoring ground and surface water in the long term to ensure the clean water supply is protected and sustainable. The third project showcased at the festival is ‘Study on the Dynamic Characteristic of a Bridge using a Remote Bridge Health Condition Monitoring System’, which aims to collect vibration data from a bridge and study its characteristics, to better understand the dynamic behaviour of a bridge. Another project on display is ‘Power System Optimization Considering ELD & NEM’, where project members analyse the metering system of the Sultanate and the economic load dispatch of the power system. Net metering, according to them, gives owners of solar energy systems credits for electricity supplied to the grid while the dispatch is an online method of reducing generation cost. These projects are available for public viewing until August 18 during office hours on level one of the Pro-Chancellor Arts Centre.
