I mean they wouldn't dare to harm a PRC citizen...
China is one of the few countries (if any) that has de-facto recognised them.
China is also their financial benefactor.

Ah still remember the times when i went there for a trip with my multinational ex-colleagues because we were curious.
Looks scary as fuck but they are like those religious, america first, pro-gun southern guys (like Clarkson once said "Three religions down here: George Bush, God, Country & Western. In that order. ASCENDING order.”)
You know; chill, drink tea, shooting some abandoned soviet tanks, ride around the town and the craziest part; taunting taliban rivals like the isis-k by radio call for fun. They even let me shoot the rpg but need to pay first.
Just don't ever cross them, you'll be fine.
