Brunei recorded a significant surge in COVID-19 recoveries with 5,420 individuals recovering yesterday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 83,761. However, 2,278 new cases were also detected, raising the national tally to 114,371.  Health Minister Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar addressed the situation during a press conference, highlighting that 30,440 active cases remain. Four COVID-related deaths were reported. The minister discussed booster shot preferences, emphasizing that while Sinopharm requests will be considered, Pfizer and Moderna are currently recommended based on peer-reviewed research. He also clarified travel protocols, stating that most countries do not require RT-PCR tests for previously infected individuals.
