Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad yesterday received BND70,985.12 in donations from four separate agencies for the Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023 during a ceremony at the ministry’s building. Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal presented a BND13,000 donation to the fund. The donation was collected from activities organised by the Faculty of Usuluddin and Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance as well as several activities held in December 2023 and early January 2024. Meanwhile, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle handed over BND11,000. The donation was collected from the *‘Misi Peduli Palestin’* project and UBD staff. President of WeCare Association Muhammad Samira Razin bin Abdullah Sambut handed over a BND26,000 donation during the ceremony. PHOTO: JAPEM The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) meanwhile, donated BND20,985.12 presented by President of MKM Mohd Yusof bin Shaikh Abdul Halim. The donation was collected from the charity sales events at Supa Save Mabohai and in Bandar Seri Begawan last month. The collection for the Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023 has been extended until April. Those intending to hold a donation collection for the fund can apply for permission from the Community Development Department (JAPEM) as the Secretariat of the National Committee for the fund, if the net collection is 100 per cent to be fully donated to the fund. Individuals, associations and other registered agencies intending to donate partially from the net proceeds obtained from activities in the form of public entertainment are recommended to apply permission in advance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The public wishing to donate via online can do so through Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), account number 00-001-01-0089051 (Tabung Kemanusiaan Rakyat Palestin di Gaza 2023) or through BIBD QuickPay by scanning the QR code on the posters and stickers of the Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023. Donation boxes are also available at mosques, suraus, religious halls, bank buildings, as well as commercial and public buildings throughout the Sultanate. The public can also send donations to the Secretariat of the National Council for the Fund at JAPEM. – James Kon
