Communication and agreement among family members are keys to the smooth process in distributing the *hibah* property and prevention of disputes, Syariah High Court Judge Haji Hassan bin Haji Metali said. He said this during the Syariah Education Programme yesterday. Haji Hassan added that good communication and agreement are important as it involves many people, including parents, spouse and children. “Expediting and management of property are important, because property involving *hibah* needs to be prioritised in the case of death of a family member before entering *Faraid* (division of inheritance), and it needs a longer process,” he said. Among them are married couples without children, couples with only daughters, couples with adopted children, stepchildren, and illegitimate child, polygamists, full-time housewives, couples with disabled children, couples who jointly purchase a house and individuals with complex or substantial wealth,” he said. Hajah Donnaliza binti Abdullah Puasa of PSW moderated the presentation. Themed *‘Hibah: Satu Solusi Perwarisan Harta’*, the programme was held at the Tarbiah Hall of KUPU SB. Dean of Faculty of Syariah Haji Md Syahiran bin Haji Md Sofian said the Syariah Education Programme was organised to provide exposure and raise awareness about the importance of understanding the concept of *hibah*, including knowledge of the rights involved and proper procedures in claiming the property granted or inherited from an Islamic perspective. The programme also aimed to elucidate the benefits of *hibah* as a solution and as an initial preparation in property management. “The programme also hoped to serve as a mechanism for disseminating knowledge and information to the public in accordance with its approaches so that it could be easily understood and utilised,” Haji Md Syahiran said. Legislative Council member Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin was the guest of honour. Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar was also present. A forum was held following the special presentation. It was participated by Dean of Faculty of Social Science Education at KUPU SB Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi; Faculty of Islamic Finance and Economy at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Associate Professor Dr Hakimah binti Yaacob; and Universiti Malaya Associate Professor Dr Sharifah Hayati binti Syed Ismail.
