Azlan Othman To mark the 32nd Teacher’s Day celebration yesterday at the International Convention Centre, an exhibition was set up with focus on two areas in line with this year’s celebration theme ‘Quality Teachers Driving Educational Transformation’. The exhibition showcased initiatives for the improvement, training and development of teachers being actively implemented at present. The exhibition also reflected the efforts and initiatives of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in the new normal showing the transformation of education before, during and after COVID-19 using technology, and displaying innovative transformation of education. At the centrepiece room were excerpts from titahs of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as well as poems from Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam. Six institutions joined the exhibition – Nakhoda Abdul Rashid Menunggol Primary School (SRNARM) in Kampong Menunggol; the Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy (BDLTA); Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Insitute of Education (SHBIE) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB); and TVET Academy of Institute of Brunei Technical Education. PHOTO: AZLAN OTHMAN Meanwhile, KUPU SB highlighted the shaping of students as potential teachers by emphasising on the spiritual aspect based on FAST (Fathonah, Amanah, Tabligh and Siddiq) and Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB). Meanwhile, the MoE through the Co-Curriculum Education Department will hold a three-kilometre walkathon on October 23 at 7am in conjunction with the celebration that will begin and end at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien. The walkathon is expected to attract 4,000 participants. This was said by Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais, who is the chairman of the walkathon working committee and chair of the sports events committee for the celebration. Participation is open to the public, and registration forms can be obtained from the Co-Curriculum Education Department headquarters and branches or downloaded from www\.moe.gov.bn or https\://bit.ly/WHG2022. Mohammad Norilham added that registration will commence today until October 2. Completed forms can be submitted to the Co-Curriculum Education Department headquarters in Lambak from 9am to 3.30pm. Meanwhile at respective branches, forms can be submitted from 9am-11.30am and 1.30pm-3.30pm during working days. The distribution of shirts will be carried out from 9am to 3.30pm on October 18 to 20 in the Brunei-Muara District (headquarters), while in the Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts branches from 9am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on workdays. Acting Assistant Director of Co-Curriculum Education Haji Eady Sardi bin Pehin Datu Derma Sakti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Razak, as Deputy Chairman; Head of the Physical Unit Sukardi bin Kaderi; and Head of the Administration Unit as joint secretary of the working committee for the walkathon event Nordiana binti Mohamad were also present.
