I would like to applaud the authorities for holding a fruit festival to provide a platform for local farmers to promote their produce.
While it was a good initiative, it is unfortunate that most public members would rather obtain these fruits and vegetables across the border, especially durians, which are currently in season.
Perhaps what we need is to separate ourselves from our neighbours by promoting the “Brunei” experience.
The authorities could encourage farmers to offer homestays while promoting their produce to foreign travellers lodging at their homes at the same time.
