Four projects received seed funding during the closing ceremony of the National Hackathon, organised by Startup673, at the Musyawarah Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas recently. The two-week event, focusing on innovation and teamwork, gathered 72 participants from diverse backgrounds to devise innovative solutions for industry challenges. Recipient RVEST offers a custom rainwater harvesting system to help homes and businesses conserve water, reduce environmental impact and achieve water independence for non-potable needs, while Capat by Gatekeepers is an automated car park management platform leveraging advanced technology for minimal supervision, smart license plate identification for entry and exit, automatic billing and real-time data analytics for utilisation. The third recipient, Wonderful, has developed a dog repellent device (DRS) integrated with Wonderful Zunique app, providing users an easy way to manage stray dog issues, while Upside offers an inventory tracking management system using radio frequency identification (RFID) with location tracking, including asset tagging with RFID stickers, fixed and handheld RFID readers for easy tracking, theft prevention, asset authorisation and analytics for company statistics. The awardees will also receive legal consultation from Yusof Halim and Partners, pre-incubation space at the iCentre incubation programme, and tech consultation with Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI). Two projects also received honourable mentions from the judges. BSAFE AI by Vertex Edge Solution is a cutting-edge smart vehicle technology featuring personalised assistance, designed to transform every journey into a connected, safe and efficient experience while TUKAR is a machine learning system powered by artificial intelligence that can learn Bahasa Brunei and integrate with any platform.
