Lyna Mohamad His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja ceremony between Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital yesterday. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah also attended. His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar. His Majesty and members of the royal family’s entry into the mosque was led by Penglima Diraja carrying pemuras and karga, while Panglima Asgar carried kelasak and kampilan, accompanied by Pembawa-Pembawa Alat-Alat Perhiasan Tunggal, Perhiasan Empat Duli Yang Teramat Mulia-Duli Yang Teramat Mulia and Perhiasan Empat Duli-Duli Wazir. Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the ceremony was ready to begin, who then informed His Majesty. Following His Majesty’s approval for the ceremony to begin, Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, accompanied by two Awang-Awang, came forward to seek the monarch’s signature for the solemnisation form. Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi read the Lafaz Ta’liq, stating, in the presence of His Majesty and four religious figurehead witnesses, that he will remain loyal to and be responsible for the wellbeing of his bride. Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi later signed the solemnisation form, followed by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim, and the four witnesses. State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz read the Doa Selamat. Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja ceremony had been completed, who then informed His Majesty. His Majesty and members of the royal family left the mosque, followed by Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi and his entourage, which was led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong. Accompanying the groom’s entourage were Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Ratna Wijaya Brigadier General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Hasnan bin Pengiran Ahmad. With the Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja, which is an Islamic rite steeped in tradition, Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah is now officially married to Yang Mulia Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi. In the royal Malay tradition, the wedding will only be complete after the Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja ceremony, which is set for January 23.
