Note that i am not a muslim, but an overseas bruneien Chinese with some basic understanding:
The part of you converting to Islam is unavoidable as its part of the Islamic law unfortunately.
The conversion to islam isn't that long actually. Though i would suggest looking around for a nearby mosque as to make it "official"
I do suggest searching a bit more to understand what to expect as converting to islam is a big change in your daily life.

For the marriage to be legal islamically, a female can only marry muslim man.
Another one is that her Wali (father or someone on behalf appointed by the dad or islamic court) must give consent.
Marriage is not to be taken lightly in Islam, but if you meet all the conditions and criteria then there should be no problem.

You have to convert first and you have to check with Brunei Embassy to contact with MORA Ministry of Religious Affairs on mosques that are recognised for Conversions certificate that can be endorsed under Brunei Syariah Law, then you will have to go through all of the steps of understanding how to do it properly and marrying making vows in front of the resident imam at a mosque. this will all be explained after you have contacted the right channel and there is no shortcut to doing this properly otherwise you will have to do it all over again in Brunei as your marriage certificate will not be recognised under Brunei Syariah Law.

You technically shouldn't be doing the marriage without going through the proper channels and traditions, how do you think her family feels with you doing the way you are doing this and rushing into it. They may feel insulted and disrespected that you do this without going through formality and asking her parents permission plus giving them dowry as well which has to be negotiated with them and elders of the family. This is no simple or fast process throughout what you are doing, do it right or do not do it at all.

Theres always time to convert and just go marry her at your local mosque. Get your facts right before you post it must say. There haven’t been and lashes except lashes for eye brow in brunei and theres no death penalty for anything.

Conversion to Islam would not take long.
But the immigration in Brunei will need you to come and make the application for marriage with a local Bruneian.

I think she can go back to Brunei and while she’s in Brunei, you apply for a visa in the states to let her stay to the US for 90 days to get married. I don’t know if your marriage will be recognised in Brunei since you didn’t convert. But by law in the states, you’ll be recognised as married. This would be useful if you guys intend to stay in the US
