Brunei is accelerating its transition to sustainable and low-carbon energy. The Prime Minister's Office, through the Energy Department, focuses on initiatives like optimizing operations, energy efficiency, and utilizing renewable energy sources like solar power. A 30MW solar project in Kampung Belimbing Subok is expected to become operational by 2025.  Other projects, including a 12MW solar system by TotalEnergies, are also underway. Smaller-scale solar developments will be encouraged for public adoption. An Energy Safety and Efficiency Steering Committee has been established to expedite renewable energy projects. The upcoming ASEAN Climate Change Centre (ACCC) in Brunei, slated to open in 2024, will serve as a regional hub for climate change research and action.
