***Prime Minister’s Office*** The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), as the Secretariat to the Special National Coordination Committee (SNCC) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), is holding a five-day SDG Youth Camp at the Youth Centre in the capital. The camp, supported by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, International School Brunei (ISB), the Brunei Youth Council and Green Brunei, opened yesterday. At the opening ceremony yesterday, Acting Director of Wawasan Brunei Office at the PMO Nur Edzalina binti Haji Idris as the Acting Head of Secretariat to the SNCC SDG, expressed her gratitude for the cooperation and dedication of partners towards the shared vision of advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. “The SDG Youth Camp represents a significant milestone in the journey towards a sustainable future, serving as a platform for youth to explore, gain knowledge and understand the relevance of the SDG. It encourages them to take initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable environment whereby active involvement and commitment of the youth are the key to achieving the SDG, in line with Brunei Vision 2035,” said Nur Edzalina. Meanwhile, BSP Decommissioning and Restoration Manager Haji Idris bin Haji Mohd Jaafar, expressed BSP’s honour in advocating and supporting the initiative, which aims to provide a platform for Bruneian youth to explore and understand SDG within the context of the country and their implications on a global scale. He also highlighted the urgency to meet the targets of the SDG 2030, which “is merely six years away. As of last year, globally, the world has only closed a mere 15 per cent of the collective target for the 17 SDG. “As a global community, we are in a state of urgency. It is imperative that we collectively own and commit to the SDGs and their targets. It is critical for us to fully understand SDGs and embody the whole-of-nation approach”. On the first day of the camp, participants had briefings on key national developments such as Brunei Vision 2035, SDG, Maqasid Syariah and the National Youth Policy. PHOTO: JAMES KON *** ***SECA School*** SECA School recently organised a three-day camp, as part of its school holiday programme. The camp, themed ‘Cheerful Campers Camp’, saw 30 students engage in a variety of activities designed to foster teamwork, perseverance and strategic thinking. Throughout the camp, students participated in 30 different games, with the tug-of-war emerging as a favourite among the campers. The camp’s structure encouraged students to disconnect from electronic devices, allowing them to fully engage with their peers and the various challenges set before them. The students were divided into five teams, named Affable, Blissful, Grateful, Poised and Serene, adding an extra layer of friendly competition. Team Blissful emerged victorious, earning the title of Greatest Team.
