Fadhil Yunus His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Honorary Life President of Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) presented the gold medal to national wushu athlete Mohamad Adi Salihin bin Roslan during the prize presentation ceremony of the men’s nanquan event at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday. The wushu star asserted his position as the country’s most decorated athlete at the multi-sport showpiece after winning his third gold medal in consecutive appearances following successes in Vietnam in 2022 and Manila in 2019. Mohamad Adi Salihin established himself as the region’s finest once again after accumulating a total of 9.636 points. The wushu hero said, “It feels surreal to be winning goal for Brunei Darussalam. But, really my hard work does pays off!” He continued, “Secondly, I am honoured by the support from the Bruneians which pushes my spirit to perform well during the competition. He also expressed his appreciation to the Department of Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) as well as his coaches Li Hui and Zhao Chunjie, the wushu’s association, family and friends for the endless support. On a special note, Mohamad Adi Salihin credited his coach Li Hui behind his success adding that he would not have been able to win gold without him. Meanwhile, national coach Li Hui said, “I can’t describe my feelings with words especially when the result was announced and we won gold. “This is the third time we got gold from Mohamad Adi Salihin.” “This is the first gold for Brunei in this year’s SEA Games. We are really honoured and proud of this achievement. “Adi has been working hard during training in Brunei as well as in China. He has sacrificed a lot.” He conveyed his gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of BDNOC – who was on the stands during his performance – for the support. The coach also thanked the Department of Youth and Sports of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, BDNOC and the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation for their respective roles in providing support towards the development of the sport. Meanwhile, Brunei Darussalam duo Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain and Abel Lim Wee Yuan won bronze in the men’s duilian event after accumulating a total of 9.283 points.
