Flew to Penang Island to learn more about the island’s historical heritage.

1. Stayed at @thegraniteluxuryhotel Lovely room, ambiance & roof top pool with view of Penang. The concierge staff are mostly friendly & eager to help sort out your island hopping itinerary.
2. There are many boutique hotels to choose from near Nordin Mews & they’re all beautifully designed.
3. Armenian St is a must visit- souvenir shops, museums such as Asia camera, 3D, Sun Yet Sen & Islamic Museum, to name a few. Take photos at mural installations around the long walking street. Armenian St depicts the Peranakan culture vibes from different cultures/migrants history in Penang.
4. Visit Penang Hill & take a scenic tip to top of hill.
5. Visit local mosques and learn about their original heritage. Masjid Kapitan Kaling was built by Indian Muslims migrant traders with Mogul architecture still intact. The Lebuh Aceh Mosque brings back memories of my father as a Haj Official in early 1960s. He used to share stories of his pilgrimage on the Haj Ship with onshore visits to Singapore, Port Klang & Penang before the ship sailed to India. I imagined he could have come & visited this particular Mosque. 😁 The. Floating Mosque at Tanjung Bungah near the sea is picturesque & a must visit. Mosque officials /jemaah are ever so friendly as I introduced myself as visitor from Brunei 🇧🇳.
6. Penang is famous for its food scene. The staff at The Granite hotel recommended me to try to eat at Padang Brown stalls. We had the famous Pasembor Rojak. Not to forget Nasi Kandar & Penang Laksa.
7. Lots of cafes / coffee to enjoy 😁 I had time to try @macallumcoffee @sitiguncoffee @morebyarangcoffee Forest Cloud , R Coffee & @constantgardenercoffee
8. I also enjoy the food experience at Malay Fine Dining @sutera_restaurant & @halabpenang serving Middle Eastern cuisine.
9. Visited P Ramlee home & learnt about his early childhood & film making period in Singapore. Makes you feel nostalgic.
10. Lastly we visited Blue Mansion to learn more about Chinese migrants history. Definitely an island worth exploring on your next travel . #dilscafe #dilcoffeetrail #malaysiantourism #malaysia
