Rokiah Mahmud His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Chancellor of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), presented certificates and diplomas to 243 graduates yesterday. The event began with a recitation of Surah *Al-Fatihah* by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, followed by the recitation of *Asmaa Ul-Husna*. His Majesty was greeted on arrival by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar; Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar; and Acting Registrar of KUPU SB Adi Rani Soffian bin Abdul Rahman. His Majesty entered the hall preceded by a *Mushaf* Al-Quran led by Assistant Registrar of KUPU SB Khairul Shaffarani bin Haji Hamidon. The event continued with the singing of the national anthem and the mass recitation of *Surah Al-Hajj* verses 77 to 78 and *Surah Al-‘Alaq* verses one to five. In a welcoming address by the Ra’es, he said the university college heeded His Majesty’s call for social science education and established the Faculty of Social Science Education that offers new programmes, seminar and research in several fields to enhance student empowerment, entrepreneurship and national development. He said despite the COVID-19 crisis in the past two years, KUPU SB has kept its momentum of achieving its goals. Its faculties have conducted 223 online and physical programmes in the form of seminars, workshops, religious talks, *nadwah, tazkirah,* dialogue, training and collaboration with ministries. His Majesty then delivered a titah and awarded certificates and diploma to the graduates. There were two graduates in Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Teaching in Islamic Education; three with Master’s in Religious Teaching in Islamic Education; two with Master’s of Religious Teaching (Syariah); 41 with Postgraduate Diploma in Religious Teaching; nine with Postgraduate Diploma in Religious Teaching (Arabic Language teaching for non-Arabic speakers); 80 with Bachelor’s in Religious Teaching; 76 with Higher Diploma in Religious Teaching of Islamic Education; seven with *Fiqh Al-Usrah* Diploma programme; five with Diploma in Jawi and Calligraphy; 13 with Diploma in Kitab Turath Studies; and five with Diploma in Al-Quran Arts Study. The Ra’es announced the recipients of the Ra’es award and Dean’s Prizes.
