Jerudong International School’s (JIS) Junior School Council members presented Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources Brunei (SMARTER) Brunei with a cheque for BND10,000. The money was raised earlier this year from the Junior School Fundraising Week activities. The cheque presentation took place in Kampong Mata-Mata on Thursday. JIS Vice Principal and Head of Junior School Paul Bannister said the students’ hard work and dedication during the Fundraising Week was admirable and inspiring. “We are immensely proud of the Junior School children, parents and teachers for raising the money. We look forward to seeing how the learning resources we provide make a difference to the children who received them,” Bannister said. The Junior School students participated in activities held throughout the week. Among them were ‘Dollar for a Job’ where the students kept their own booklets to keep track of the jobs they had done to help around the house and ‘Coin Drop’ where students rolled coins down pipes from the Junior School buildings to water troughs below. ‘Bake Sale’ saw students selling baked goods during the morning break managed by the Year 6 students from the council. In the ‘Launch a Teddy’ challenge, the students contributed BND2 to participate and were challenged to design the best parachute to keep their teddy bear in the air for the longest time.
