Rokiah Mahmud, James Kon & Daniel Lim Schools nationwide continue to hold graduation ceremonies, winding down the academic year of 2022 with activities celebrating students for their hard work and dedication. Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School presented certificates and awards to 109 Years 1 to 5 students at its multipurpose hall yesterday. YSHHB School Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Fliti Abdel Majed presented certificates and awards to recipients. YSHHB Primary School Headmistress Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi said the annual event celebrates students for their academic achievements, while at the same time, motivates the others to strive for excellence in their Primary School Assessment (PSR) examination. Prizes were awarded in three categories: Best Student Category (with 105 recipients from 35 classes), Top Students category, and Special Progressive Award (five recipients). The Special Progressive Award is given to students, who with the help of Learning Support Centre (LSC) teachers, have shown outstanding academic progress. Meanwhile, Years 3, 4 and 5 also achieved over 90 per cent passes in core subjects – except for Mathematics, of which the percentage of passes was below 75 per cent,” she said, adding that the school “will formulate a strategy to improve the achievements”. Meanwhile, a similar scene played out for Bright Jigsaw School (BJS) students at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas. Acting Director of Department of Schools cum guest of honour Dr Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid presented certificates and awards to 72 students from Kindergarten 3 and Year 6 for passing with flying colours. BJS Principal Shazwani binti Haji Shahibulbahri said the ceremony celebrates the success and achievements of BJS KG 3 and Year 6 students, acknowledging them for their hard work. BJS Board of Directors Haji Roslan bin Dato Paduka Haji Yaakob and Sitty Wardyna binti Haji Mohd Sambas also presented Merit Awards to students from Kindergarten 1 to Year 6. The day later saw BJS presenting donations to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) and Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam. The donations were pooled through charity events held in conjunction with BJS’ Silver Jubilee celebration. BJS Managing Director Haji Mohd Sambas bin Haji Bagol presented the donations to DANA Executive Officer Samsudin bin Haji Puasa and Pusat Ehsan Senior Trustee Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab. Syarikat Kerjasama Kontraktor dan Perniagaan Bumiputera also presented donations to DANA and Pusat Ehsan. The ceremony was enlivened by stage performances from the students. At St John’s School in the Belait District, the sense of pride was equally palpable among the dozens of graduating Kindergarten 3 and Year 6 students. In a speech, Principal Dr Teh Keng Watt extended gratitude to parents and guardians for helping their children along their educational path, making use of the home learning tools and packages rolled out during the height of COVID-19 outbreak. Dr Teh awarded certificates to 55 Kindergarten 3 and 66 Year 6 students. Graduating students took to the stage for song performances, and Years 6 representatives Anna Raihana binti Hassanal Sufri and Muhammed Umar Baig delivered speeches thanking parents, guardians and the school for their support throughout the years. Meanwhile, Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Kindergarten recently held its 60th graduation ceremony with the theme ‘A Joyous Childhood, A Brilliant Future!’ Principal Kho Guik Lan opened the ceremony with an introductory speech. Assistant Chairman of the Board of Directors cum guest of honour Malcolm Lim Peh Beng handed out certificates to the recipients.
