I don't know why but I'm feeling a bit depressed after reading this. The fact that the British did their best to develop our nation somehow, made me happy. The fact that we were also looked upon by our neighbours made me happy as well. Now, we are just a tiny dot on the world map, known for oil and people mentioning "did somebody say oil RAHHH 🦅" comments on TikTok. I really hope that one day, Brunei's future will be bright. This is our home and of course, we want the best for our future generations.

Interesting how nothing really has changed from then and now. The top family still gets use of government money, monopolies and corruption exist and unequal distribution of the wealth .

As sarawak grows richer and richer and while brunei grows poorer and poorer, it isnt wild to assume perhaps in the future, brunei will be swallowed by the bigger neighbour or even beg to be part of sarawak

It’s just sad to see how the British did their very best to develop Brunei into a nation. Now just by looking at our country now its real sad, we could’ve been good but nope we are nothing but a speck in the island.

I found the information below and here's a summary
Did you know that Brunei's financial report from 1906 reveals a fascinating journey of development and struggle? It's like a historical soap opera, where British efforts to modernize clash with centuries of local challenges. And hey, who knew TikTok comments could turn into a modern-day history lesson about oil and national identity?
