***Ministry of Development holds Khatam Al-Quran*** Azlan Othman The Ministry of Development (MoD) held a Khatam Al-Quran, Tahlil and sungkai at Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque yesterday. Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid attended the event. Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, heads of departments, officers and staff were also present. The ceremony saw the handover of waqaf in the form of a computer, printer and BND400 to purchase bird spikes for the mosque to imam Haji Julazni bin Haji Zaini. The Khatam Al-Quran began with the recitation of Al-Fatihah by the minister. Meanwhile, Takhtim, Doa Khatam, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran were led by the imam. Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid was the guest of honour. Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, permanent secretary, acting permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank managing director as well as head of departments and officials also attended. BGC Managing Director Captain Abdul Mateen Abdurrahman Liew, Acting Village Head of Kampong Jerudong A Mohammad Nazmi Fa’iz bin Haji Abu Bakar, Acting Village Head of Jerudong B Kamis bin Panjang, Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) President Haji Md Suffian bin Haji Zainal and YASKA Vice Chairperson Tsara ‘Nawwarah binti Abdullah Chen were present. Forty-three orphans and 10 children from YASKA attended the event alongside guests and BGC staff. The event began with welcoming remarks by Captain Abdul Mateen, followed by the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Selamat led by Asril Amin bin Ahmad. Captain Abdul Mateen said, “I am honoured to be able to break the fast with today’s special guests. PHOTO: FADLEY FAISAL *** ***Land Rover Owners Group Brunei hosts sungkai*** Izah Azahari Over 50 members of the Land Rover Owners Group Brunei came together for a sungkai gathering in conjunction with Land Rover’s 75th anniversary at Penanjong Beach in the Tutong District on April 14. The event saw a gathering of 30 Land Rover vehicles, ranging from the Classic Land Rover Defender, Classic Land Rover Series, Land Rover Discovery 1, Land Rover Discovery 2 and Range Rover Classic. A Doa Selamat was recited by member Pengiran Haji Radiman bin Pengiran Haji Tengah.
