Rokiah Mahmud & James Kon Officers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and Ministry of Education (MoE) received state honours yesterday in recognition of their service. The awards were held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s birthday celebration. The awards also hope to encourage other civil servants to improve work performance while striving for excellence. Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the medal ceremony held at the International Convention Centre. Some 125 officers and staff of the MFA, including those on overseas missions were awarded state honours. Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof presented medals to recipients who were in the country, comprising 34 individuals with Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB) and 23 with Pingat Kerja Lama (PKL). Meanwhile, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin presented medals to 118 officers, staff and entrepreneurs in the primary resource and tourism sectors during a ceremony at the ministry. Some 35 MPRT officers and staff and 14 entrepreneurs received the PIKB, while 69 received the PKL. Yesterday, Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented medals to 127 officers, staff and teachers at the MoE. Fifty-six individuals received the PIKB while 71 received the PKL.
