Baiduri Bank is transitioning its credit and debit cards to bio-sourced polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable material, in collaboration with Thales. The initiative began in the second half of 2022, starting with debit cards. All new card sign-ups and renewals will receive PLA cards, aiming for complete replacement within a timeframe not specified in the article. The PLA cards meet international quality standards while remaining non-toxic and biodegradable within six months. This move complements Baiduri Bank's other sustainability efforts, including paperless banking solutions like online banking and e-statements.
