His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), paid a working visit to Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) School yesterday. His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof as members of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as Deputy Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, member of the Yayasan Board of Directors and YSHHB School Chairman of the Board of Governors; Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, member of Yayasan Board of Directors and Deputy Chairman of YSHHB School Board of Governors; and Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as Acting Managing Director of Yayasan and member of the YSHHB School Board of Governors. Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi delivered the welcoming remarks, followed by briefings on the development and achievements of the school by the acting managing director of Yayasan. His Royal Highness signed a commemorative parchment and received a pesambah followed by a tour of the school’s library. PHOTO: RAFI ROSLI His Royal Highness also visited the YSHHB Primary School where His Royal Highness interacted with the primary school students, sat in on a calligraphy, *silat* performance, *mukun* and iPad showcase before visiting the mini garden. His Royal Highness also visited the YSHHB Secondary School where an exhibition was set up to showcase the Malay language, Malay Islamic Monarchy, science, business projects, business, art and technology, and the GLOW Programme. During the showcase, the grandchildren of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Abdul Hafeez bin Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil, provided energy saving tips while Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-Ul Bolqiah binti Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil participated in the karate performance. Since 2016, the school has been recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School in the Sultanate. The most recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing was with Advanced Neural Technology for Teaching (ANTT) Robotics in South Korea earlier this year. YSHHB School places great emphasis on the holistic development of students’ character (character building) in terms of spirituality, morals, intellect, and social aspects by involving all students in co-curricular activities. The school and students’ achievements in co-curricular activities are also encouraged. – Rokiah Mahmud
