The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has introduced the RBPF Code of Ethics and Conducts to remind members to comply with the ethical standards and professional conduct while on duty. Any violation of the code of ethics and discipline will be seriously dealt with and the management will not hesitate to enact decisive action including prosecution in court or termination from services. The implementation of RBPF Code of Ethic and Conduct was revealed by Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu yesterday at the passing out parade for probationary inspector cadet officers squad and male police constable trainees squad at the Parade Ground of the Police Training Centre. Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian reminded participants to maintain high level of discipline and credibility. “Discipline is an important element within the personality of police personnel. Probationary officers and trainees must maintain a high level of discipline to serve as an example and deserve to be called a competent and credible police officer and personnel,” he said. Since its inception more than 100 years ago, he said, “The RBPF has become the oldest and main agency responsible for the safety of the people of the Sultanate. PHOTO: JAMES KON “Therefore, probationary officers and trainees should be diligent in gaining knowledge to deal with the latest criminal threats including cross-border crime and cybercrime such as fraudulent activities using social media technology.” Also in attendance were Commissioner of Police Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali and Deputy Commissioner of Police Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin as well as senior police officers and family members of the male constable trainees and probationary inspector officers. Some 20 probationary inspector cadet officers and 99 male police constable trainees attended the passing out parade to mark the completion of their nine-month basic police training. Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian presented the award for Best Probationary Inspector Officer to Cadet Officer Muhammad Hamizan bin Haji Mohammad Din. Meanwhile, the award for Overall Best and Academic went to Muhammad Nurwafiq bin Haji Jasmin while Mohammad Asril bin Asli received the award for Best in Outside Training. The nine-month training programme is designed to prepare police recruits to face dynamic demands and challenges of modern law enforcement, including comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of law enforcement, ethics, community involvement and physical fitness. – James Kon
