Download VPN and preferably a paid one. If not, you won’t be able to use Google or WhatsApp. Download some translation apps and if you plan to use the metro, download metroman app. That helps a lot actually.

Get WeChat or Alipay because it would need it and ensure you have your card all set up there. Bring cash as well in case.
